VACCINATIONS

Are Your Child’s Shots Up To Date?

Not sure?

Disease prevention is the key to public health. Vaccines prevent disease in the people who receive them and protect those who come into contact with unvaccinated individuals. Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives.

If a child is not vaccinated and is exposed to a disease germ, the child's body may not be strong enough to fight the disease. Before vaccines, many children died from diseases that vaccines now prevent, such as whooping cough, measles, and polio. Those same germs exist today, but children are now protected by vaccines, so we do not see these diseases as often.

At Peas In A Pod Daycare, Inc., we care about your children and their health.  We want them all to be well and free from communicable diseases.  Especially since some can lead to permanent impairment or even death.  We are urging all parents to please educate themselves on the importance of vaccinations in order to keep your children happy and healthy.

Here’s a quick downloadable schedule that you can use to keep track of your child’s vaccine needs.

Oral Care for your child

Should I really bother my kids with brushing “baby teeth”?

All teeth, even baby teeth, are important. Many parents, are under the false impression that baby teeth are less important because they will eventually fall out and be replaced.

This is absolutely not true.   Baby teeth serve several important functions including, acting as spacers creating enough room in the jaw so that permanent teeth can come in, aiding in proper speech development, and serving to help build self-esteem in the newly independent child.

That is why parents have a responsibility to make sure their children’s oral health is at it’s best.

Dental Emergencies

OMG! My son’s tooth was just knocked out in gym class!  What do I  do?

If your child's tooth is knocked out:

  • Carefully rinse the tooth in water.  Make sure that you do not touch the root of the tooth with your hands.

  • Attempt to place the tooth back in its socket and secure with a wet wrap, or place it in a glass containing either saliva or milk.

Note:  See your dentist immediately!  Time is the enemy when a tooth is knocked out.  If a dentist is seen within one hour after an accident, chances are good that the tooth can be re-implanted and saved.
