Meals

Peas
In A Pod Daycare, Inc. is a participant in the Child and Adult Care Food
Program. All children at the center receive a USDA approved hot breakfast,
hot lunch, and a mid-afternoon snack. Our philosophy is that children
should be offered a variety of nutritious foods, prepared with minimal
preservatives, and with many different textures. As a result, meals are
prepared with a variety of appealing and colorful foods, as well as many
fruits and vegetables. The children eat family style with center teachers,
are coached to serve themselves, and are encouraged to try the many
different foods offered.
Social development, fine motor skills and full tummies are what our dining
experience is all about.
The center’s
Director is the person responsible for all menu planning and food
procurement, and has completed classes in nutrition and child development.
*** Note:
The children are offered the food, not forced to eat.
Children who choose
not to eat will not be served additional food until the next mealtime.
*** Breakfast
Cut off: Arrivals after 8:45am will not be served breakfast, so please send
your child to care already fed.
Special Diets
If
a child has a particular dietary need, substantiated by a medical
evaluation,
we
must be informed and given a doctor's note along with a
completed
Alternate Nutrition Agreement Form for your child’s file. Substitute meals or
snacks may then be brought from home if necessary.
Junk Food
Please do not
send any food, candy, gum, soda, chips, or sweets with your child unless
this has been previously arranged with us. Our hope is to foster an
environment that focuses on nutritious eating habits, and therefore we will
not permit the consumption of junk food items. If your child arrives with
any such items, they will be taken away (not thrown out) and returned to the
parent at pick up. They will not be allowed to eat it. Please help us to
help your children be as healthy as they can be.
***Note:
If a child arrives to daycare with chewing gum, he/she will be asked to throw it
into the garbage. Chewing gum is not allowed.
